POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Homeland Security, the Community Engagement Specialist is a creative, personable staff member who contributes to the diverse work program of the Homeland Security and Comprehensive and Environmental Planning Departments. The Community Engagement Specialist applies their public outreach and consensus-building background and creative problem-solving skills to public safety, hazard mitigation, and emergency management projects in their portfolio.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Engagement Specialist acts as a social media and public outreach specialist on numerous plans, projects, and regional efforts to foster a resilient, whole community. The Community Engagement Specialist will perform a wide variety of public engagement and outreach work, including graphic design, webpage and social media management, stakeholder interviews, site visits, and other work products. They will produce a wide variety of graphics, flyers, presentations, web pages, document layouts, and narratives in direct collaboration with a diverse team of colleagues.
