Employee Health Nurse Manager

Education:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse program required.
Masters Degree preferred.
Additional coursework in business, leadership, management, healthcare administration, or public health preferred.

Experience:
Minimum three years of nursing experience with knowledge of OSHA/Workers Compensation regulations preferred
Background in Occupational Health required

Current licensure as a registered nurse in Massachusetts required.
BLS healthcare provider required.

1.\tManages the day to day operations and responsibilities of the Employee Health Department.
2.\tResponsible for managing and evaluating the performance of the Employee Health staff.
3.\tManages the Workers? Compensation Program to control costs and losses due to work-related injuries. Reports employee injuries to the Environment of Care Committee.
4.\tResponsible for recording and maintaining the OSHA log for Emerson Hospital. Reports data per guidelines to OSHA on an annual basis.
5.\tResponsible for monitoring and reporting all injuries involving a blood borne pathogen exposure related to a sharps injury to the Sharps Committee, Infection Prevention and Control Committee as well as reporting annually to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
6.\tManages and evaluates employees with work-related injuries and communicates the employees progress to their supervisor/manager.
7.\tParticipates in regular meetings between the claims service company, workers compensation lawyer and Employee Health to manage outstanding claims.
8.\tCoordinates and manages hospital wide annual Seasonal and H1N1 influenza vaccination program and tracks all related data for reporting purposes.
9.\tResponsible for planning and managing the Employee Health department?s budget.
10.\tConducts pre-placement health screens, assesses immunizations and conducts mask fit testing for all applicable hospital healthcare personnel.
11.\tProvides first aid to employees with work related illnesses or injuries.
12.\tEngages in independent decision-making and clinical care within the scope of nursing knowledge and protocols of care.
13.\tProvides healthcare personnel with the appropriate referrals to other providers or the Emergency Department.
14.\tMaintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
15.\tMonitors healthcare personnel for illnesses and exposures. Communicates appropriate information monthly (and as necessary) to the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control or their designee.
16.\tConsults with physicians when findings warrant medical expertise outside the scope of nursing knowledge or protocols.
17.\tMaintains files on all existing employees containing medical histories, physicals, results of evaluative procedures and other health information.
