5.16 Robotics Engineering

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND/OR SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Tier 2

The Contract shall provide support services on engineering and programs development to include:

Engineering Tasks

1. Conducts research on approved proposals, managing to schedule and cost.
2. Performs market research into Unmanned Systems (UMS), Robotics, and autonomous devices to evaluate products and capabilities for integration into military medical battlefield systems.
3. Provide unmanned and robotics systems SBIR/STTR programmatic and technical oversight and execution management assistance, including reviewing reports, plans, and prototypes.
4. Performs hardware and software integration into prototypes of knowledge-based systems, robotic & unmanned technologies, and health information technologies to provide standoff, remotely operated, and autonomous capabilities for combat casualty care, operational medicine, & force health protection.
5. Research and prototype robotic enablers for application in other convergent scientific domains such as human performance augmentation and prosthetics.
6. Drafts agreements (Memorandum of Agreement or Memorandum of Understanding) for collaborations with other Federal agencies.
7. Writes drafts and assists in writing research proposals for battlefield systems incorporating UMS, robotics, and autonomous devices.
8. Provides briefings as required on assigned research.
9. Writes abstracts, articles, web content, and creates posters for assigned research.
10. Provides written subject matter expertise and technical feedback on research proposals to government POC on topics related to assigned research.
11. Coordinates and conducts project evaluation in tactical environments during field exercises.
12. Provides on-site SME and technical support to field operations.
13. Provides Robotics, Autonomous Systems, and Device Engineering expertise and assistance to CLIENT.

Administrative and Financial Management Support

The contractor shall provide support to assist in developing estimates for the lab budget and reviewing monthly reports and invoices, providing recommendations to Government.

Testing, Evaluation, Training Support

The contractor shall provide subject matter expertise during test, evaluation, training exercises, and warfighter assessments. This includes operation of drones or other autonomous devices to support evaluations of integrated technologies.

1. Develop Evaluation Plan for robotics and autonomous devices, assisting in the development of Evaluation Plans (Autonomous Devices and Robotics) test plans for evaluation exercises that CLIENT participates in involving autonomous devices.
2. Coordinate and conduct project evaluations in tactical environments during field exercises for assigned projects.
3. Provide technical support to field operations.

Documentation Development, Review and Support

The contractor shall write abstracts, articles, web content, and create posters for assigned research projects for at minimum one conference per year.
