UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA is welcoming a full-time Pharmacy Technician, Associate to serve evening/night shift (7:00PM to 7:00AM) . This opportunity offers  flexible scheduling , with weekend and holiday work required. You will have the chance to cross-train across various pharmacy technician responsibilities and work with state-of-the-art automation in central pharmacy for unit doses and IV compounding. In this role, there will be the opportunity to -

• Prepare sterile and nonsterile medications, including cytotoxic and hazardous drugs, using proper aseptic techniques.
\n
• Procure and manage inventory levels in pharmacy medication stock rooms, automated carousels, and dispensing machines.
\n
• Retrieve discontinued medications, returning and processing them per pharmacy protocols.
\n
• Distribute medications, including emergency carts, cassettes, and controlled substances, in compliance with policies and regulations.
\n
• Maintain accurate and secure storage of medications in compliance with regulatory guidelines (Department of Health, Joint Commission, State Board of Pharmacy).
\n
• Assist in training pharmacy personnel and students, ensuring adherence to operational procedures.
\n
• Comply with Federal and State laws (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA) and regulatory requirements such as CMS and PBM contracting.
\n
• Maintain controlled substance records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Federal, State, and Department regulations.

Required

\n
• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following:\n
  \n
  • Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
  \n
  • Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience
  \n
  • Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System
  \n
  • Enrollment in an undergraduate pharmacy program and in good standing
  \n
  \n
