Industrial Engineering - Summer Internship 2025

Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC) is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern in our Delphi, Indiana Location; this on an onsite position. IPC is a fully integrated retail, foodservice and private label producer of fresh pork and processed meats based in Delphi, Indiana. Since the start of operations in 1991, we have experienced rapid growth from a single pork processing company into a multi-plant diversified producer of fresh and processed meats, with locations throughout America's Heartland and revenues of approximately $1.5B. We are best known for our national brand Kentucky Legend (the best-selling boneless ham brand in the United States) as well as several well-known regional brands, including Indiana Kitchen, Fischer's, Field, Mickelberry's, Kentuckian Gold, and Scott Pete. We have additional processing facilities in Frankfort, Indiana; Holland, Michigan; and Owensboro, Kentucky.

What will an Engineering Intern do?

An intern will work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining compliance with federal regulations for safety, food safety and operational requirements. They will work with various team members of all levels and departments to meet engineering needs. The Industrial Engineering Intern will provide "hands-on" experience for 12 continuous weeks starting in May 2025. The selected Industrial Engineering Intern will be assigned a project giving the opportunity to actively contribute to a global Pork manufacturing facility, while building a solid understanding of the food processing industry.

Education Requirements:

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student at a Nationally accredited college university seeking a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
• Students entering either their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year.

Responsibilities:

• Bill of Material (BOM) Reviews to aid with SAP / ERP implementation.
• Update industrial engineer crewing guide to current.
• Work with production control specialist to evaluate leaker data.
• Conduct studies of all Cryovac output and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Work with supervisors on a supply room Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

• How to schedule and implement projects in a food plant environment while maintaining compliance with federal regulations for safety, food safety and operational requirements.
• How to learn and meet the needs of various departments in a corporation through engineering design and communication.

Details:

• Summer: 2025 Internship May 2025 - August 2025 [12-weeks]
• Pay: Sophomores: $21.50/hour, Juniors - $22.50/hour, Seniors - $24.00/hour
• May be eligible for summer housing stipend @ $4.50/hour (interns only)
