Position Overview:

The Locus Grants Manager will lead the development, management, and execution of our grant program, in coordination with the Director, Investor Relations and Chief External Affairs Officer. This role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, writing compelling and successful grant proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grant Strategy & Prospecting: Research and identify funding opportunities that align with Locus’ mission and strategic priorities.
  • Proposal Development: Develop compelling and well-structured grant applications for federal and state agencies, philanthropic organizations, and financial institutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, collaborating closely with internal teams to align proposals with Locus’ priorities.
  • Project Management: Develop and implement work plans for grant proposals, engaging colleagues as needed in the application process.
  • Grant Compliance & Reporting: Evaluate eligibility requirements, ensure compliance with application and reporting guidelines, and track grant performance metrics – in collaboration with Investor Relations, Impact, and Finance team colleagues.
  • Financial & Audit Preparedness: Ensure grant-related financial records comply with internal policies and external regulations, supporting audit preparation as necessary. Collaborate with Finance to ensure alignment of grant purpose to grant uses.
  • Data & Impact Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for senior management, highlighting key performance trends and insights of grant program.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Effectively convey complex ideas in written and verbal formats to diverse audiences, both internal and external. Ability to document workflow and procedures.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience related to proposal development and management of a variety of funding sources including philanthropic, institutional and government entities.
  • Track record of successful grant writing for federal, state, or philanthropic grant applications.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising/development processes including cultivation of existing relationships and building new partnerships.
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong research and project management abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and engage subject matter experts in proposal development.
  • Ability to self-start and multi-task with limited supervision.
  • Experience in community development finance, impact investing, philanthropy, and/or mission-driven organizations. Strong preference for experience with community development financial institutions (CDFI).
  • Four-year college degree preferred but not required. We will consider candidates with more than five years of relevant work experience in lieu of a formal degree.

Computer/Technology:

  • Excellent Word, Excel, and Windows file management skills mandatory.
  • Strong technical experience with Salesforce or other CRM tools.
  • Demonstrated web research skills.
  • Familiarity with Outlook or similar network-based email and calendar software.
  • Extensive computer usage and Microsoft Teams communication.
  • Must be able to work independently in a stable remote environment.
  • Access to high-speed internet bandwidth and reasonable proximity to Locus or a major metropolitan airport.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $81,000 - $100,000 annual salary, depending on skills and experience
  • 18-days of PTO per year
